Where can I buy tickets?
Tickets are available for purchase online on the Events & Concerts page. Alternatively they can be purchased at the door for each concert.
How can I join?
New members are welcome to audition any time. Please complete the membership form on the Join DYO page. If you have specific questions and/or to set up an audition, please contact Mr. Otway directly at potway @ dyomusic.com
Where are your venues?
Our venues can vary but are all located within Durham Region.
In recent years we have performed concerts at St. George Memorial Church in Oshawa, as well as Hebron Christian Reformed Church and Westminster United Church both in Whitby.
How often do you practice?
Rehearsals are generally twice a week for strings and once a week for woodwinds, brass and percussion. Although, woodwinds, brass and percussion should be prepared to rehearse twice a week as determined by the music director.
Why is there a membership fee?
As an independent charitable organization, the Durham Youth Orchestra depends on membership fees, ticket sales, donations and other fundraising efforts to generate funds. These funds are used to pay for venue fees, insurance, masterclasses, scholarships, equipment needs, soloists and other operational expenses that are necessary to keep the orchestra going. We also depend on hundreds of volunteer hours by parents, friends and board directors to minimize expenses. Everyone does their part.
